Superhero

READ THIS FOR THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS!

If you didn't already know...

There is a new superhero in town!

Don't give me that black stare people. I can't believe you are so outdated. This is big news!!!

There is a real life breathing superhero in town. And I do not mean Gotham City or...what is the name of the town the Powerpuff Girls live in?
Nevermind!

Who is that superhero?
Why, RACHEL YEOH of course!

What a ridiculous question!

Rachel Yeoh has managed to save herself from herself and hence is the new superhero and the best a town can ever get!
She has managed to keep herself alive for almost the whole month of December!
Is her mortality at stake?

We'll shall see.
There are 8 days before we see the face of 2010.
Will Rachel live to see 2010?

2nd Lap!

Okay, I will blog about my holidays as soon as I get this super duper uber hectic week over and done with.

After this week, I would have to write up at least 10 new posts!

But for this week, I am literally crawling on my knees for help.

F.Y.I. to the future Rachel Yeoh:
When anyone asks you to do anything, just say NO!
Until you are so sure you have time to chillax and recover from the face full of pimples then you can call them up later and tell them soething they will want to hear because there is no use tiring yourself up like crazy and nobody sees that you have done something extremely tiring and you fall into bed everynight and the next second, the alarm rings and there is a lot more work to be done.

Currently, I have pots and pans to wash after messing up the kitchen with loads of sugary solution.
Tell me who prepares food at 1.30am in the morning?

It's Rachel Yeoh when she does not have any other time to prepare the stuff she has to prepare.

After this week, I promise myslef.
You'll have to read it later and see if I actually sit down and fulfill it.

Just in case I don't meet you all at this page, I just want to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

And I shall prepare my heart and mind and soul and strength for a crazy 2 weeks ahead.
Camp, caroling, retreat, swimming, dinners, parties, shopping, video shoots, practices, present making, Final Cut Pro.

I am superwoman.

I can do it!

Yes, I can do it.

With help from above.

My second lap.And I am SOOO going to make it count!

Help us to help them.

Hello everybodies! =)

Look, I really really need your help and extremely QUICK!
A few of us are going to bless these few people who cannot make a living the normal way.
Some of you must be puzzled right now.

Okay,let me explain.
There are some women in Penang who do not have a cosy home to stay in and are forced to sell their body to get enough money to get food each day. They are poor, rejected and have no care for themselves. They don't have self worth and are called upon rubbish by the society. The mention about the way they get money for living makes you cringe.

Yes, they are prostitutes in our lovely Penang.

I got into contact with a group of people who are helping them. Showing God's love for them, helping them to do something that does not have to do with the no so nice stuff they are doing to get money. They organize programs for them where they are able to mix around with other people who are not prostitutes or the people who pay them for their service.

However, it's rather sad because none of them who are helping them are actually the locals!
What happened?

I mean, people from other parts of the world sees this need in our little Penang and why don't we see it?

I know and British woman and a Dutch woman who are reaching out to the women and I was really moved to help. No only me, but a few of my friends too! (Benice,Yvonne,Connie, Mook Chen and others)

This Christmas, I really really really need your help to help us raise some money to buy them essentials that they NEED!

We are going to drop off the stuff next Monday and we need the money before that.

We want to buy them tooth brushes, tooth paste, towels, soap,a few nice accessories and other essentials.
There are around 30 women who are prostitutes over that area that we are going and we really want to make their lives a little easier!

If you have accessories that you are willing to donate, or some cash that you want to donate, please don't ever hesitate to call me!
So what are you waiting for? Drop me a comment or email me or call me!The people are out there and it's the little things that you do that can count!

Seriously, they do not want to be prostitutes.I am sure of that. But circumstances come along and it's the only way they know how to live.
I hope that you are convicted to give just a little bit.

Please, help us to help them.

2 modes of packing

I know I have been missing in action for a very long time.
My blog was actually dead. Can you believe it??

Anyways, I am here to revive it.
I missed blogging so much.
The absence of the internet at home gives me a lot of trouble.

Missed me?

I've got good news to SHARE!

Yesterday, I got a call from my mother when I was still at work.

'Rachel, I just received a letter from UTAR, ' she said.

'OPEN IT!' I said, in a hushed scream.

My eyes didn't blink. It was as if I could see the letter being opened in front of my eyes.

'You got accepted!' my mom said after a pause.

WHEEEEEE!!!!!

I GOT INTO A UNI!!!

I mean, after one whole year of heartbreak and disappointment, I am wanted by an educational body!
Icould not stop grinning.

And that means, I have got to start preparing myself for that big change.

My course starts next month, January!

And you know what??? I got my first choice, that is, journalism!
So someday (I wish) I will be some high fashion editor....

But I shall burst my own buble for now and worry about something I have not packed for.
I am going for a holiday TOMORROW!

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

I'll just have to worry about the packing because I am leaving early in the morning tomorrow and I won't get back home until it's almost midnight.

Things are looking better now I suppose.

SHOPPING (with a budget) HERE I COME!!!!!!

Happenings during Mega Sports Camp

I remember writing about it in my blog a few months ago…when the registration is still open.

Last week, we had Mega Sports Camp for the children over at PCC and it was really fun….and not to mention extremely tiring.

It’s like energy just flows out from your body as if you just let out water from a tap full force.

I’ve got pictures for this post thanks to Geoshan, who so kindly loaded 1,600 or so pictures into Wayne’s hard disk to pass it to me.

What was I supposed to do for Mega Sports Camp?

Take videos!

That is all…or so they say.

In the end, I got my hands tied up with so many things I could barely breathe after 12pm!

Arriving at 8am every morning for Mega Sports Camp is something I can never get used to.

Thank God it is only from Monday to Thursday.

On the first day, I remember rushing to church because Pr. Chai bee and I were supposed to lead 2 songs and GUESS WHAT?? I don’t know what song I am singing…and they are all new!

I tried to compose myself and try to prepare myself emotionally and mentally to memorize 2 full songs when I was in the car, my dad driving my whole family down to church.

When I reached church, THANK GOD I got the news that I do not have to memorize the songs….

But there was a catch…

I was supposed to do some moves with the song!

MOVES???

What kind of MOVES????

I don’t know any moves!

It’s been ages since I danced in front of anybody.

Wait, I think I’ll take that back…

So anyways, I did some weird aerobic moves on stage…not even knowing what I was going to do and trying to think of steps a few beats before doing it.

It was hilarious!

Some of the songs I danced to seemed like it will never ever end.

It kept on repeating the same chorus over and over again I thought I was going to die on stage!

Up, down, up, down, up, down.

Left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right.

Jump, jump, jump, jump, and jump.

Shake, shake, shake, shake, and shake.

Kick left, kick right, kick left, kick right.

I really didn’t know what in the world I was doing.

All I know was I was embarrassing myself.

But it’s okay, I guess I am quite used to it (the embarrassing part, I mean).

I took this picture when a kind soul drove me from church to the field...

Anthony and John happy to get some attention from the camera.

They had floor ball, captain ball, football and athletics. On the first day, they had cheer leading too, but because of the poor response, they didn’t have it anymore the next day.

Why??

Because the boys hated cheerleading.

Biasalah…

Okay…so here are more pictures…

Whatever they are doing in the picture above is what I can't do...even if it were a life and death situation.
I can't do push ups AT ALL!

And guess what???

They PUMPED 50 TIMES!!!
Not 10, not 20, not 30 also...but 50!!!!

Okay, Edwin is buff and all...but SARAH CHOONG!
She must be like Sarah Connor from Terminator or something.

Our rest times are when he children get into their huddle groups. The part where they evaluate what they did during the sports and link it to what the Bible says about it. Like perseverance, respect and all that. Their coaches also review stories and have them share about what they think about it.

Remember what I told you about moves at the beginning of this post???

Here is a little sneak peek.

Knee-ups are just one part of it. We just choreograph everything on stage. No practice and practically no idea what song they were playing.

Everything was in a blur.
Just as long as you move, you are doing the job you are expected to do.

Yes, I know I look real nerdy and dorky n those specs...but who cares la. No one to please..tee hee.

Back to the Westlands field...
...Diana Choong and daughter, Sarah Choong demonstrates how to pass a baton while doing a 4 x 400.

I use to love running for this...when I was still in primary school. Don't even expect me to run now. Because I can't!!!!
My bones are extremely heavy and... it just impossible.

People always expect me to be a good runner because I have long legs.
How wrong some people can get...

I could run a 4 x 400 if there was a huge 80-90% sale!

That would create enough adrenaline in my body.
Long jump!!
I used to like this a lot too!

But I so hated the high jump!
I CAN NEVER GO ABOVE THE STUPID POLE!!!!

So I just run as fast as I can, reach the pole, push the pole down and pretend to fall into the spongy thingy.

Hehe.

I helped out in a few skits too.

Like the story of Joseph and how he was sold as a slave.

My gosh, that was so funny because the storyteller, Pr. Chai Bee, forgot to mention that the brothers took away Joseph’s colourful coat after tossing him into the dry well.

From the picture above, you can guess that Edwin played the Pharoah.

That is the dry well...

The dry baptism pool.

Ben was having sooooo much fun.

And Rachel Lee, Maylyn and I were the poor maidens that were supposed to attend to Edwin.

It was a mess but it was really funny.

I was couldn’t stop laughing even as I peeped out through the puppet stage.

Sigh...
This is what I call, the fun kind of embarrassment.

I love this picture!

Don't you???

Here, you can only see 9 of Jacob's sons...I don't know where the other 3 went. Uncle KL played Jacob,Edwin was the Oh-So-Mighty Pharaoh, Uncle Peter was one of the Egyptian slave traders. Justin was another, but he disappeared to I-don't-know where because nobody could find him...until AFTER the skit.

OH LOOKIE!!!

All 260 and more children and the many many coaches who contributed to make Mega Sports Camp a success!

It's not the end of my post just yet...
Just because I put up a group picture, it does not mean that the post has ended...I have MORE!

Like my insane sister who wore a skittle on her head to get some shade from the sun.

Smart move Sarah. (please imagine a whole load of sarcasm in that sentence).
:D

Then it's BREAK TIME!
The part where we get LOADS of Vico and some food!

On the last day, we had a whole lot of cream puffs and layer cake!
WOOT!

I really need something to munch on..it was SO HOT!
My hair would have been fried if I stood under the sun for another 60 seconds!

Later, we had a 4 x 400 competition between the sport coaches. I was supposed to video it...but my footage was real bad...so...yeah...

At least we got PICTURES!
After all, pictures are worth a thousand words right???

Because of my bad footage, I asked them to do another sprint.

And something happened during that sprint that I won't say..
Shhhhhh...

And at the end, the crowned winner was Edwin Ooi.
I think we have had enough of him already...
HAHA.

Frankly speaking, I hated the sun.

I felt like I was scorched. It felt like National Service all over again, running and jumping under the HOT sun.

‘Not my cup of tea,’ I was telling Benice.

Back to enjoying some air-conditioning.

But with the cost of doing more silly routines on stage...

Another incident when I was acting was when I was supposed to act as a pregnant woman.

And Jason was supposed to be my very nice neighbour that helped drive me over to the hospital as my water has broken and I was about to give birth soon.

Memorable moments.

Oh,there he is!
Jason Heng, the friendly neighbour!

He helps Rachel Lee get to school...

He helps Ben Foo with his 'children'.

He helps me to get me to hospital when I was about to 'give birth'

IT WAS HILARIOUS!

Although sports may not be my thing, I must admit I did have fun.

AND, the most important thing is, many children accept Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour!

Isn’t that wonderful when we get a harvest???

God also answered our prayer request!

The day before the event, it rained, because it IS the rainy season…but during those four days, not one drop of rain came down from the sky…but on Thursday night, after everything was done and over, it started to pour.

God is great huh?
